Spring-SOLSC-20/31

The first day of spring has come and gone. A great deal of change took place as the tornado of time swept through. Tennis practice moved outside. I wore shorts on a walk with my dogs. Ice cream was once again acceptable to eat. Out came my summer clothes. It may be quite a bit early for such measures, but I have no regrets.

Taste-SOLSC-19/21

As I brought the first fork-full to my mouth, my mouth watered in anticipation. I had waited for weeks to enjoy this family style cuisine. The smell enveloped my entire house for 3 days in advance, and it took all my strength not to sneak any the day before. Garlic and oregano danced across my taste buds, and I was hooked. My family’s homemade spaghetti sauce was finally served.

Nothing Goes as Planned-SOLSC-19/17

Wow! I missed a day of SOL for the first time in two years. It’s just one thing that represents how my day has progressed. I knew it would be rough as soon as I woke up and realized I was already behind schedule. Plans changed, people got angry, and it took a toll on my mood. The cause and effect of emotion became a very relevant factor to the course of my day.

New-SOLSC-16/31

My eyes go blurry as I continue to stare at the screen. Looking away is no longer an option. With so many things to discover, there doesn’t seem to be a reason to anyway. A small voice in the back of my head tells me to call it a night, but the marathon continues. I will not rest until I am convinced that all of my new options are explored.

Plans-SOLSC-14/31

I love the feeling of having a set map of my time. I know exactly what direction I need to go in and when. As the hours of school went by, I could feel my excitement level rising. We will start with a trip to the mall, fill some time with dinner, and end our night with a ballet. It almost lets  me forget about all of my friends who are at practice, working hard without me.

Ouch!-SOLSC-13/31

Nothing could distract me from the aching of my body. The room swirled around as I was forced to sit and watch my teammates practice, and improve, without me. The desire to jump back in hit a few too many times. Each time I would stand back up, only to be forced back down by my own lady of capability. My stomach was as active as kids at a playground while my back ached as though 2 magnets had been placed on opposite sides of my vertebrae. There was no way to work through the feeling, as my head hurt so bad I couldn’t even think. The world continued it’s forward motion, but I was forced to stop.

Relax-SOLSC-12/31

It was precisely 6:34p.m. when I crossed the last item off my to-do list and took a deep sigh of relief. After continuously finishing and adding tasks, it seemed as though I would never finish. But now that the time had come I had no clue what to do with it. Laundry done, house cleaned, lunches made, and homework done, there seemed to be nothing left. That’s when it hit me; I could finally try the new chairman I found online. As I arranged my ingredients a great sense of relaxation washed over me, and I was off to enjoy my night.

Successful Tradgedy-SOLSC-11/31

We waited for each other as all of us filled our fork with a large bite of chocolate cake and colorful frosting. Hoping to relish the taste we hoped would be amazing, Amber made sure to wait until everyone was ready. Sadly, Amber forgot to look at both people at the table, and we had our first bites well before Taylor. There were very few bitter feelings due to the fact that our frosting, that had been mixed and remixed many times, was awful. A large mass of this disgusting paste was blanketing our cake in layer upon layer of pastel purple, blue, and green. The cake itself was delicous, but all seemed for naught as the decoration we had such high hopes for slowly slid in all directions around the cake. We have a few tips for next time: cream cheese frosting instead of buttercream, wait for the cake to cool conpletely, and use WAY less frosting to cover it.

Movies-SOLSC-10/31

A slight click on the screen alerted the formerly rowdy audience to the movie’s beginning. The atmosphere of the room was transformed as people quickly shut off phones, ended conversations, and turned all attention to the screen. Daunting music began to play, revealing the mood for the following program. My heart began to race as the speed of the tune picked up and carried the crowd into a world of haunting fascination that would develop over the next 2 hours.
